UPDATE 10/3/19 - Report of student with gun at Sun Prairie High School

**Update**

From: Lieutenant Kevin Konopacki
Date: October 3rd, 2019
Subject: Report of a student with a gun – Sun Prairie High School

The subject responsible for the 911 phone call has been identified as a 15-year-old female high school student. The investigation has revealed that the reported threat of two females in a bathroom, one armed with a handgun, talking about shooting up the school was fabricated.

The 15-year-old female is being referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office on charges of Terrorist Threats and Obstruction.

The Sun Prairie Police Department wants to thank all of the first responders who assisted in the evacuation, reunification, and investigation of this incident. We want to thank the Sun Prairie School District staff who were instrumental in providing an effective evacuation and reunification, as well as supporting the investigation.

We also want to thank all of the residents in the nearby neighborhoods who opened their doors to the students, and provided them with a safe shelter during this chaotic situation.

Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
