The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Kendall County in northeastern Illinois... Livingston County in central Illinois... La Salle County in north central Illinois... Will County in northeastern Illinois... Southeastern Lee County in north central Illinois... Southern De Kalb County in north central Illinois... Grundy County in northeastern Illinois... Kankakee County in northeastern Illinois... Southern DuPage County in northeastern Illinois... Southeastern Cook County in northeastern Illinois...

* Until 500 AM CDT.

* At 1200 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges were indicating that very heavy was occurring in showers and thunderstorms moving across northern Illinois. Rates of one to two inches per hour will occur frequently for a couple hours before the rain tapers near 300 AM. This will cause at least minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Southern Chicago Metro, Morris, Ottawa, Streator, Pontiac, and Kankakee.

* AFFECTED AREAS: DUPAGE, IL ... DE KALB, IL ... LEE, IL ... COOK, IL ... LA SALLE, IL ... KANKAKEE, IL ... LIVINGSTON, IL ... WILL, IL ... GRUNDY, IL ... KENDALL, IL

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
