2019 IMPD Fall Fundraising Campaign: One Campaign. Three Great Causes.

INDIANAPOLIS – Last year the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) raised over $32,000 during our “We Are Tougher Than Cancer” fundraiser during the months of October and November. The money raised impacted the Indianapolis community directly with funds being divided among three incredible organizations that work directly with those impacted by cancer and officers who had suffered significant injury or illness: The Little Red Door Cancer Agency, Indiana Women in Need (IWiN) Foundation, and the IMPD Wounded Guardian Program. Chief Roach then authorized fundraising efforts to continue into December with all donations being directed to the IMPD Clothe-A-Child Program. Over $5,000 for the IMPD Clothe-A-Child program was raised during the month of December.
We are proud to partner once again with LRDCA, IWiN, IMPD Wounded Guardians and Clothe-A-Child in a combined fundraising effort which will be active for the months of October, November, and December. At the end of the campaign, the money raised will be divided equally among the four organizations. From this, One Campaign. Three Great Causes was created: Cancer Awareness (LRDCA, IWiN), Officer Support (Wounded Guardian), and youth support (Clothe-A-Child). Since the internal department announcement of the campaign, the IMPD has already raised over $20,000 from more than 200 donors! The IMPD has a goal of raising $50,000 during the 2019 campaign.
“An important aspect of this campaign is recognizing the similarities between us and those we serve while encouraging each other to donate so that we might support organizations that support those fighting a battle, whether it be illness, injury, or circumstance.” Stated Chief Bryan Roach, “This is about supporting our community. I’d like to encourage all officers and the people of Indianapolis to participate in this worthwhile campaign.”
The Indy Public Safety Foundation (IPSF) is an active partner in this fundraiser and has established a donation site to help direct funds upon completion of the campaign. Donations will be tax deductible. IPSF has been a great partner in building relationships among public safety and the community, and continues to give back to assist programs that ultimately have an impact locally. Donations from the campaign will be directed to four (4) incredible organizations or causes.
1.  Little Red Door Cancer Agency works to reduce the physical, emotional and financial burdens of cancer for medically underserved residents of central Indiana by providing free client services, cancer screenings and education.
2.  Indiana Women in Need (IWiN) Foundation supports individuals statewide receiving treatment for breast cancer by relieving emotional, physical, and financial burdens.
3.  IMPD Wounded Guardian program helps officers who are suffering from illness or injury during their recovery and beyond, to ensure their needs are met and to remind them that they have not been forgotten.
4.  IMPD's Clothe-a-Child program provides holiday assistance, support and love to under-appreciated youth in our community.
Participating officers have been authorized by IMPD Chief Roach, to grow a beard or wear a pink shirt under their uniform shirt, to show support through the end of December.
The IMPD would like to encourage citizens and officers alike, to participate in this wonderful campaign. The money raised will impact Inidana, Indianapolis, and IMPD community directly, in a positive way that helps those that are challenged by life-changing diagnosis, illness, injury, or circumstance. Help us in raising awareness in One Campaign. Three Great Causes!  Together, we can make a difference!
