Advisory

Jason Beayon arrested and charged in last night's armed robbery at Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island, CVS store.

Shortly after 11:30 last night, a male subject entered the CVS store on Pope Avenue, Hilton Head Island. Upon entering the store, the subject, who was masked and armed with a handgun, approached store employees and demanded that they hand over cash from the safe. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe, the subject fled the store in an unknown direction.

Sheriff's Office deputies processed the scene for forensic evidence and reviewed the store's surveillance footage. In reviewing the footage, deputies and CVS employees located a segment in which the subject's face was not yet concealed. This morning, a still photograph from that surveillance footage was released to the public through NIXLE, Facebook and Twitter.

Late this morning, and following the release of the still photograph, Sheriff's Office deputies received multiple calls that the subject in the photograph was 27-year-old Jason Beayon. Following up on that information, deputies were able to locate Beayon in the parking lot of the Sam's Club and Walmart in Bluffton. When questioned by deputies, Beayon acknowledged that he was the subject in the still photograph from the CVS robbery.

Jason Beayon was arrested and transported to the Sheriff's Office for a more detailed interview by investigators. Following that interview, Beayon was charged with Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime for last night's CVS robbery. Beayon was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. As of the time of this advisory, Beayon had not received a bond hearing for the charges.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office would like to thank those from the community who helped identify Jason Beayon as the subject in last night's robbery.
