Coastal Flood Advisory until 02:00PM Monday

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect from 8 AM to 2 PM EDT Monday.

* LOCATIONS...Atlantic Coastal Cape May and Coastal Atlantic.

* TIMING...High tide on the New Jersey oceanfront occurs between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM Monday morninig. High tide on the back bays occurs later than the high tide on the oceanfront. The High Rip Current Risk continues through Monday evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Very strong rip currents will be dangerous to anyone who enters the surf.

* OUTLOOK...An enhanced risk of rip currents will likely continue for much of the upcoming week.

A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood. Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs. Visit the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service at for additional water level and flood impact information for your local tide gauge. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
