Coastal Flood Advisory until 07:00PM Monday

...HIGH RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS AND MINOR COASTAL FLOODING EXTENDED THROUGH MONDAY EVENING... .The combination of increased swell periods and swell heights along with moderate to strong southeasterly winds will lead to a high risk for dangerous rip currents through Monday night for the Gulf facing beaches of the Middle Texas Coast. High astronomical tides will also continue to favor minor coastal flooding along the barrier islands from Baffin Bay to Port O'Connor. Tide levels are are expected to reach or exceed 2 feet MSL at times of high tide which may lead to up to 1 foot of inundation.

* COASTAL FLOODING...Tidal surf reaching the dunes during the times of astronomical high tide.

* TIMING...High Risk of Rip Currents through Monday evening. Coastal flooding at times of high tide through Monday evening. Port O'Connor high tides at 626 AM this morning and again at 800 PM this evening. Bob Hall Pier high tides at 403 AM this morning and again at 424 PM this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Strong rip currents are expected along Gulf-facing beaches, especially near piers and jetties. These rip currents are life threatening to anyone entering the surf. Poor driving conditions are expected as water reaches the dunes. Some beach access roads may become impassable.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CALHOUN ISLANDS ... ARANSAS ISLANDS ... NUECES ISLANDS ... KLEBERG ISLANDS

Instructions:

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
