HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – September 25, 2019– The Hollister Police Department arrested a man for a warrant. His mother was also arrested for attempting to help her son escape and battering an officer.

On September 24, 2019, about 11:43 P.M., Officer Rudolfs and Officer Umstead were dispatched to a loud music call in the area of 155 Redwood Drive. Officer Umstead was familiar with Nicacio Villalobos (37) who lives at the residence and Officer Umstead knew Villalobos had a warrant for his arrest.

The officers parked their vehicles away from the residence and approached on foot. Since the music was being played very loud, officers were able to approach Villalobos and get very close to him before being detected.

Upon seeing Officer Umstead, Villalobos ran toward the door of their sidence. Officer Umstead chased Villalobos and caught him as he was at the doorway. Villalos resisted arrested and activily faught with officers as they were trying to place him into custody. Villalobos called out for his mother as he continued to resist arrest.

As Officer Umstead was struggling to get Villalobos into custody, Maria Flores (Villalobos’ mother) opened the door of the residence. Villalobos called out to his mother and told her to help pull him inside of the home. She attempted to do so and struck Officer Umstead several times.

Villalobos was arrested on the warrant and new charges of resisting arrest. Flores was arrested for battery on a police officer. Both suspects were booked at the San Benito County Jail.
