San Leandro marijuana dispensary burglarized - detectives make arrests

On Sunday, September 22nd, 2019, a San Leandro marijuana dispensary was burglarized over the by masked bandits. The loss included sums of cash contained within two safes and cannabis product from their inventory.

The newly opened business, located at 1915 Fairway Drive in San Leandro, was equipped with an alarm and surveillance cameras. However, by the time officers arrived at the scene, the thieves were gone with the loss.

A review of the surveillance footage revealed that at least four suspects, all masked and gloved, pried open a rear door to gain entry into the business. Detectives were able to locate a license plate from one of the two vehicles involved, which led to this three-day investigation.

On Monday morning, San Leandro Police detectives located the suspect vehicle used in the burglary and began surveillance on the vehicle's movements. By Wednesday morning, the suspects had committed at least three additional burglaries, including a business in Oakland where a safe was taken.

Hours later, the suspects were located at a home in East Oakland. Detectives executed a search and made several arrests. The safe from the Oakland burglary was also found with substantial damage as the suspects were trying to break it open.

During the investigation, detectives discovered a storage locker in San Leandro belonging to one of the arrestees. A search warrant was obtained and served at that location.

Inside the locker, detectives found an arsenal of weapons, including semi-auto handguns, high powered assault rifles, high capacity magazines and over one thousand rounds of ammunition. In addition to the guns, nearly $40k in cash was found in various denominations.

"This is still very much an on-going investigation," said San Leandro Police Lieutenant Isaac Benabou. "Detectives will need to piece together several details to get this case ready for the District Attorney to review. However, we're satisfied knowing several deadly weapons have been taken off the streets and out of the hands of dangerous criminals."

The arrestees; 35 yr-old Terrell Gibson, 26 yr-old Darrian Williams, 29 yr-old Jaime Kilgore and 21 yr-old Quinn Edwards all remain in custody and will appear in court tomorrow at Alameda County's East County Hall of Justice in Dublin.
