Two Teenagers on Motorcycle Injured In Crash, One Seriously
Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motorcycle crash that injured two teenagers in Copiague last night.
Two teenage boys, travelling southbound on Vespucci Avenue on a 2007 motorcycle, failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Campagnoli Avenue and were struck by an eastbound 2013 Infiniti JX-35 at approximately 7:45 p.m. Neither boy was wearing safety equipment.
The passenger on the motorcycle, Rainiery Balbuena, 13, of Copiague was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition. The operator of the motorcycle, Luis Santos, 14, of Copiague was transported to the same hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, Laticia Britton-Marie, 45, of Copiague, was not injured.
The motorcycle and the Infiniti were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
