Traffic Advisory for Santa Clara’s Historic Downtown - Saturday, September 28

The Parade of Champions will take place on Saturday, September 28 through Santa Clara's Historic Downtown. The parade is scheduled to start at 11 a.m., with an estimated completion time of approximately 3 p.m. Event information can be found at www.scparadeofchampions.org

• Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted along the parade route. Vehicles parked along the parade route will be ticketed (minimum fine, $53) and towed (release fee, $81, plus storage fee). If your vehicle has been towed, it will be at one of the following locations:

Lima Towing, 3591 Thomas Road, Santa Clara, (408) 986-8267
Unique Towing, 416 Aldo Avenue, Santa Clara, (408) 249-5253

• The parade route is approximately 1.1 miles and will start at Lafayette Street at Bellomy Street. It will move along Lafayette Street, turn left at Benton Street and left again on Monroe Street. The parade will end at the corner of Bellomy Street and Monroe Street

• The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.:
◦Bellomy Street between Alviso Street and Buchser Middle School entrance
◦Washington Street between Market Street and Manchester Drive
◦Lafayette Street (both sides) between Poplar Street and Bellomy Street / Lafayette Way

• Between 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. there will be limited resident access within the parade footprint at Monroe Street and Bellomy Street; proof of residency will be required

• From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:
•Lafayette Street, between Bellomy Street and Benton Street
•Monroe Street, between Poplar Street and Benton Street
•Benton Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street
•Bellomy Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street
•Homestead Road, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street
•Santa Clara Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street
•Market Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street
•Jackson Street, between Benton Street and Monroe Street
•Main Street, between Homestead Road and Market Street
•Washington Street, between Homestead Road and Bellomy Street

Residents and businesses, please plan accordingly. With the exception of emergency personnel, vehicles will not be able to enter or exit the event footprint between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Between 2 - 3 p.m. there will be limited resident access within the parade footprint at Lafayette Street and Bellomy Street; proof of residency will be required

• Limited parade participant parking will be available in the Washington Open and Buchser Middle School parking lots. There will be NO PARKING in the staging areas except for band buses. Buses will remain on Washington Street and in the Buchser school parking lots. Participants arriving in private vehicles must unload outside the area and walk into the staging area. Parade participants should be dropped off at the staging area as follows:
- MARCHERS, SPECIALTY UNITS, GUESTS will stage on the eastbound Lafayette Street between Poplar Street and Bellomy Street
- FLOATS, LARGE VEHICLES, CAR CLUBS will stage on westbound side of Lafayette Street between Poplar Street and Bellomy Street
- BANDS will stage on Washington Street between Lafayette Street and Bellomy Street, South side, with one lane open for bus traffic
- EQUESTRIANS will stage on Bellomy Street between Lafayette Street and Alviso Street
- PARTICIPANT DROP OFF AND PARKING is at Washington Elementary School parking lot on Washington Street. Parking for participants are side streets outside the staging area and parade route

• Walking, bicycling, carpooling, ride-share and public transportation are strongly encouraged for attendees, participants and volunteers

• On-street parking is very limited; refer to the event organizer website for parking alternatives at www.scparadeofchampions.org. Do not block driveways, fire hydrants or crosswalks in residential neighborhoods, and dispose of your personal trash

• Amplified sound (e.g. public address, pre-recorded and live music) will occur during event hours

• Portable restroom facilities will be located on the staging streets - Washington Street and Lafayette Street

• The Mission Branch Library will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Parking will not be available along Mission Plaza Park. Individuals planning to attend Family Storytime, please plan accordingly. For Library inquiries, call (408) 615-2964

• Be observant and monitor your environment. If you notice suspicious objects or observe suspicious behavior, report this information to local law enforcement immediately
