SLPD- Female robbery suspect located and arrested on AC transit bus

On Thursday, September 19th, 2019, San Leandro Police Officers arrested 24-year old Felicia Santos for violently robbing another woman for her purse.

The incident occurred on around 3:30 pm in the area of Estudillo Ave and Bancroft Ave.  Police dispatchers received a call of a "robbery in progress" seen by multiple witnesses as the suspect attempted to grab the victim's purse as she was walking. The victim resisted and held onto her bag; however, the suspect continued to struggle with the victim until she fell to the ground.

The suspect then began dragging the victim by pulling onto her purse until the victim could no longer hold on. Afterward, the suspect ran and boarded a nearby AC transit bus passing in the area. Witnesses pointed out the bus to officers as it was leaving.

SLPD units located the A/C transit bus and conducted an enforcement stop. The female suspect was found inside along with the victim's purse.

"This violent suspect was located and apprehended with the public's assistance," said San Leandro Police Lieutenant Isaac Benabou.  "The witnesses were able to call 9-1-1 and provided vital information that led to the suspect's location and arrest."

Felicia Santos, an Alameda resident, was booked into the San Leandro jail for robbery and will be seen in court on Monday, September 23rd at Alameda County's Hall of Justice in Dublin.
