Full Notification

This morning at East McDowell Middle School, the Marion Police Department was called to investigate an altercation between two students. It was determined that during the altercation, one student produced an object, which was used to cause a very minor abrasion to the other student involved.

As a precautionary measure, School Administration initiated a soft lockdown, which allowed the students to remain in class and receive instruction. School Administration and Marion Police Department conducted their investigation, and it was determined to be an isolated incident. The injured student was treated by the school nurse.  No other students were harmed during this incident, and school returned to normal operations a short time later.

Due to the students involved being juveniles, names will not be released.
