...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING... .Copious amounts of tropical moisture from Tropical Depression Imelda will move across the region through this evening. Bands around the system will produce prolonged periods of intense rain and when combined with saturated grounds along with overwhelmed drainage systems will produce significant and life threatening flash flooding. The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* Portions of Louisiana and southeast Texas, including the following areas, in Louisiana, Beauregard, Calcasieu, East Cameron, Vernon, and West Cameron. In southeast Texas, Hardin, Jefferson, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Orange, Southern Jasper, Southern Newton, and Tyler.
* Through Friday morning
* Additional rainfall of 5 to 10 inches with isolated higher amounts.
* Heavy rainfall in a short period of time may overwhelm drainage systems causing flooding of streets and low lying areas.
* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHERN JASPER ... BEAUREGARD ... EAST CAMERON ... ORANGE ... CALCASIEU ... VERNON ... JEFFERSON ... TYLER ... SOUTHERN NEWTON ... WEST CAMERON ... HARDIN ... NORTHERN NEWTON ... SOUTHERN JASPER
