Synopsis: P-1 was an 81 year old Asian female driving a gold colored 2014 Lexus SUV. She was traveling E/B 7100 Miramar Rd and pulled into the left turn pocket at the intersection of Miramar Rd. and Miramar Way. She failed to stop at the red traffic signal and proceeded to turn left in front of oncoming traffic. P-2 was a 39 year old Hispanic male driving a white 2015 Mercedes Benz cargo van. He was traveling W/B 7100 Miramar Rd in the W-1 lane. P-2 stuck P-1 in the intersection. P-2 had a minor complaint of pain. P-1 was transported to an area hospital by paramedics. P-1 sustained a torn aorta as result of the collision. SDPD Traffic division Officers responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Drugs or alcohol are not considered to be a factor in this collision.
