INCIDENT: PC-187 - Murder
LOCATION: 6300 block of Elkridge Place Rancho Cucamonga, CA
SUSPECT(S): Joe Edward Montes, 71-year-old, male, resident of Rancho Cucamonga
VICTIM(S): Darlene Montes, 49-year-old, female, resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY: On September 16, 2019, at 8:30 a.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a transfer call from the California Highway Patrol. The male caller stated he stabbed his daughter. Deputies responded to the residence and found the victim, Darlene Montes suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported by ambulance to San Antonio Community Hospital, but unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries. Deputies secured the residence and homicide detectives assumed the investigation.
The suspect, Joe Montes remained at the home and was contacted by deputies. Joe Montes is the father of the victim. He was transported from the scene to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station and interviewed. Based on statements and physical evidence at the scene, Joe Montes was arrested for Penal Code 187–Murder. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
This was an isolated incident, there are no outstanding suspects which pose a threat to public safety.
