Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon/Aggravated Assault
8/21 – 5:45 a.m. – Police were called to a disturbance in progress between two males, one armed with a knife. Upon investigating it was found the subject with the knife is a convicted felon. On the 23rd the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the suspect, Adam C. Kempf age 37 of Millstadt, with the following (below is a synopsis of the charging documents):
Count 1: Unlawful Possession of Weapon by a Felon; in that the said defendant, a person who has been convicted of a felony under the law of the state of Illinois, knowingly possessed on his person a knife with a blade in excess of three inches in length with the intent to use unlawfully against another, and the person has previously been convicted of retail theft; A Class 3 Felony, Category A Offense.
Count 2: Aggravated Assault; in that the said defendant, in committing an assault, used a deadly weapon, in that he knowingly possessed a knife with a blade in excess of three inches in length while threatening the victim, thereby placing the victim in reasonable apprehension of receiving a battery. A Class A Misdemeanor, Category A Offense.
His bond was set at $25,000.
