On Sunday September 15th 2019 at approximately 2:34pm, The Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to Route 40 in the area of Old Egg Harbor Road for a multi-vehicle crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Chevrolet S-10, operated by Rebecca Adamson (20) of Tuckahoe, was traveling westbound on Route 40 when she entered the eastbound lane. Traveling eastbound, a 2017 Hyundai Sonota, operated by Patti DiMartine (61) of Mays Landing, swerved to avoid the collision, exited the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder, and struck a culvert. A 2019 Chevrolet Trax, which was operated by Christian Freeman (20) of Vineland, was also traveling eastbound, and collided head-on with the Chevy S10. After the collision, the occupants from both vehicles were able to self-extricate. The Chevrolet S-10 caught fire from the impact.
Both drivers, along with an adult passenger from the Chevrolet Trax, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for further evaluation. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Traffic was diverted around the area for approximately one hour while the accident was investigated, the fire was extinguished, and vehicles removed. Also assisting at the scene were the Hamilton Township Rescue Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics and the along with the Mays Landing Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation by Ofc. Jim Jacobi. Motor vehicle charges are pending further investigation.
