(San Andreas, CA) On August 22nd, 2019 The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was proud to have five recruit deputies graduate the Delta College Police Academy and join the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. The academy training included extensive instruction on criminal law, constitutional law, traffic law, patrol procedures, firearms, defensive driving and first aid. Since then the new deputies have been completing their orientation period with the department. They received department specific training on policy and procedures.
This week the new deputies began their field-training program. They are paired with a Corporal (training deputy) to receive in field training prior to becoming a solo deputy. They will learn how to serve the public and handle various calls for service.
The department will be sponsoring a new group of recruit deputies in the next academy beginning in early October. Persons interested in a carrier in law enforcement with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office should visit the department recruiting web site.
