Human Trafficking Task Force arrests Corderic Johnson for Pimping/Pandering, Det. searching for additional victims

INCIDENT: Pimping and Pandering of an Adult
 
LOCATION: 3400 Block of Shelby St. Ontario
 
SUSPECT(S): Corderic Johnson, 29-year-old resident of Ft. Worth, Texas
 
VICTIM(S): Confidential, 19-year-old female resident of Texas 
 
 SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at approximately 2:00 pm, investigators from the San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force, began an investigation after locating a possible Human Trafficking victim in an online advertisement, in the City of Ontario. Investigators inititated an undercover operation to contact and locate the victim. During the investigation, investigators found the victim's location was in a motel room near the 1800 Block of G St. in Ontario. Several hours of surveillance was conducted at the location and the adult victim was contacted and positively identified. At the time of contact, the victim was alone and her trafficker was not located/contacted. The victim was provided access to resources to assist her and relesed from the scene.  
 
Task Force investigators continued follow-up investigation the following morning and again, found the victim being advertised online in the City of Ontario. Believing the victim's trafficker had located and re-victimized her, investigators began a second undercover operation to locate and contact the victim. The victim was later found in a motel room located in the 3400 Block of Shelby St. Surveillance was conducted in the area and investigators located a vehicle similar to one seen the day prior. Investigators continued surveillance of the vehicle and watched a lone male exit the motel, enter the vehicle and drive away. Believing the male was possibly involved with the victim, investigators and uniformed officers from the Ontario Police Department conducted a traffic stop a short distance from the location.

The driver, Corderic Johnson, was detained and questioned. Investigators learned Johnson had been in the vacinity of the investigation the day prior and was familiar with the victim. He was transported to the Rancho Cucamonga Police station for further interview. While investigators spoke with Johnson, other Task Force members contacted the victim at the motel and assured her safety. The victim was re-interviewed and provided services through a local support organization, who arranged for her return to Texas. During the interview with Johnson, investigators discovered information supporting his involvement in Pimping and Pandering of the victim. He was taken into custody and booked at West Valley Detention Center for felony violations of Pimping and Pandering of an Adult, with a bail of $100,000.

 
The San Bernardino County Human Trafficking Task Force is made up of investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office, Ontario Police Department, Redlands Police Department, California State Parole, Office of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
 
This investigation is ongoing.
