Yucaipa deputies arrest two for stolen vehicle

INCIDENT: Possession of a stolen vehicle
LOCATION: 34000 block of Wildwood Canyon Rd.
SUSPECT(S): Alberto Fernandez, 25-year-old, resident of La Habra
Natasha Ruiz, 36-year-old, resident of Banning
SUMMARY: On September 12, 2019, deputies from Highland station alerted Yucaipa deputies of a stolen vehicle possibly headed to the Yucaipa area. Deputies conducted a check of the area and located the stolen vehicle parked near the 34100 block of Wildwood Canyon Road.
While deputies watched the car, Alberto Fernandez and Natasha Ruiz entered the vehicle and backed away from a mobile home. Deputies converged, and Fernandez drove forward causing the stolen vehicle to collide with another parked vehicle. Both Fernandez and Ruiz fled from the vehicle and hid nearby. Deputies quickly located Fernandez and Ruiz hiding in bushes. They were taken into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed drugs, paraphernalia, and ammunition. Both were booked on stolen property charges and Fernandez was booked for violating terms of his Post Release Community Supervision.
