Community Day 2019
The Lawrence Township Recreation Department will hold Lawrence Township's annual Community Day event on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm at Central Park.

Mosquito Spraying: Mercer County will be spraying areas in Lawrence Township on September 13 and 14 between the hours of 12 midnight and sunrise. These applications are conducted via truck-mounted, ultra-low-volume (ULV) cold aerosol sprayers during late evening or early morning hours. You may go to the County website for areas being sprayed.




 
Growth and Redevelopment Awards
Each year the Lawrence Township Growth and Redevelopment Committee conducts an awards program to recognize businesses, individuals and civic groups that have contributed to the economic vitality of Lawrence Township. The Mayor's Award will be presented to the Lawrence Hopewell Trail. This year's other award winners are: Hilton Garden Inn receiving the New Large Business award, CafĂ© DuPain will be recognized as the New Small Business, Amerikick will receive the Business Service award, Gary Hullfish is recipient of the Residential Award, the Lawrence Shopping Center will be recognized with the New Building/ Renovation award,  The Bridge Academy is receiving the Podmore/Dwyer Historic Award and Zagster Bikes is this year's winner of the Ralph Copleman Environmental Award.  The program will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019, beginning at 8:00 am at the The Venue at Cobblestone, 2170 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrence Township, New Jersey 08648.

The keynote speaker for this year's event will be Hee Young Kim an Assistant Professor in the Management Department at Rider University since 2004. She earned her PhD from the Stern School of Business, New York University and has worked in the investment banking field for Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and MBK Partners.

Cat License Renewal Month: September is cat license renewal. Any cat over the age of 7 months old is required by law to be licensed. Cat licenses are renewed in the Municipal Clerk’s Office. Proof of current rabies certification and proof of spaying or neutering (if applicable) must be presented when a license is purchased by mail or in person. The fee is $11.00 if spayed or neutered and $14.00 if not spayed or neutered. Click here for the application. Free Rabies Clinic: The Lawrence Township Health Department is holding a free rabies clinic for dogs and cats on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, between the hours of 5:30 and 7:00 pm at the National Guard Armory on Eggert Crossing Road. 2019 Flu Clinics: The Health Department is holding three flu clinics this year. Two at the Municipal Building and one at the Senior Center. Please click here for more information.






Trunk or Treat: The Lawrence Township Police Department will sponsor their annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 24 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Lawrence High School Parking Lot. Please click here for more information.





Road Work:
  • Franklin Corner Road: Mercer County will begin a milling and resurfacing project on Franklin Corner Road between Route #1 and Princeton Pike. Click here for full details.




 
Smoke Alarms Are Still Available: The Lawrence Township Fire Marshal’s Office through the NJ Division of Fire Safety has Kidde 10-year smoke alarms. These alarms were donated by Kidde through the WABC Operation 7 Save-A-Life Program for distribution to New Jersey residents. These smoke alarms are available for distribution to residents living below the poverty level in the community. Message from the Department of Public Works:

The Township recently revised the brush collection regulations effective January 1, 2019. (Ordinance No. 2307-18)
 

NEW YARD WASTE COLLECTION RULES

Brush will continue to be picked up according to the zone schedule. Please refer to the Zone Map below.

  • Brush should be placed at curbside no earlier than the weekend prior to the scheduled pickup week
  • Yard waste shall be placed along the front yard curb of the property which it has originated for collection.
  • Collection will be limited to brush and tree prunings.
  • Tree trunks and limbs in excess of 6 inch diameter will not be collected.
  • Limbs should be cut in lengths of 3 feet or less.
  • All limbs and brush should be placed at the curb in an orderly manner.
  • The size of the pile may not be larger than 3 feet high and must be placed not greater than 4 feet from the edge of the pavement. The pile shall not exceed 12 feet in length.
  • No wire, nails or metal should be left in the materials.
  • Diseased material and firewood will not be collected and disposed of by the Township. This material must be disposed of privately.
  • All tree stumps are the homeowner’s responsibility. The Township will not collect tree stumps.


BRUSH WILL NOT BE PICKED UP IF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED.

All commercial landscapers shall be registered annually with the
Township of Lawrence by March 31st.

There is no brush collection during November and December, leaf collection only.

The Week of September 16 is Zone 3.


If you have any yard waste, you may take it to the Ecological Facility on Princeton Pike between the hours of 7:30 am and 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  The Ecological Facility is now open on Saturdays.
