On August 26, 2019, the Novato Police Department began investigating an identity theft case involving the stolen information of several Marin County residents. A suspect was quickly identified as Leticia Algere of Novato.
 
During the investigation, it was found that Algere had possession of personal identifying information of at least 19 individuals. Additionally, Algere was identified as a suspect in theft reports investigated by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
 
On September 10^th, Novato Police Officers, working with the Marin Coordination of Probation Enforcement and the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force, located Algere at the Villa Inn. She was taken into custody without incident. Algere was booked on several violations, including aggravated identity theft, possession of stolen property and drug related offenses.
