Deputy Steven McPeters of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jonathan Paul Church, 46, address listed as Millers Gap Highway in Newland, with trafficking in methamphetamine.
                At 7:14 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, McPeters responded to Stacy Hill Road in reference to possible drug activity.
                When he arrived, Church was leaving the area in a Subaru. He stopped the car, talked to the driver and a search by deputies and K-9 Kessy turned up 405 grams of methamphetamine.
