Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 12:45AM Wednesday

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Lyon County in northwestern Iowa... Western Osceola County in northwestern Iowa... Northern Sioux County in northwestern Iowa... Rock County in southwestern Minnesota... Nobles County in southwestern Minnesota... Southwestern Murray County in southwestern Minnesota... East central Minnehaha County in southeastern South Dakota...

* Until 1245 AM CDT.

* At 1158 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Garretson to near Hills to near Alvord, moving east at 45 mph. These are very dangerous storms. HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near... Rock Rapids around 1210 AM CDT. Luverne, Ellsworth, Hardwick and Blue Mounds State Park around 1215 AM CDT. Adrian, George and Matlock around 1220 AM CDT. Little Rock, Leota, Rushmore and Lismore around 1230 AM CDT. Sibley and Ashton around 1235 AM CDT. Wilmont around 1240 AM CDT. Worthington around 1245 AM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Kenneth, Steen, Magnolia and Bigelow.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ROCK, MN ... LYON, IA ... NOBLES, MN ... MINNEHAHA, SD ... MURRAY, MN ... OSCEOLA, IA ... SIOUX, IA

Instructions:

This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause serious injury and significant property damage.
