Take the Pledge to be Drug-Free
In anticipation of “Red Ribbon Week," the Santa Clara Police Department decorated the Trophy Case in the West Wing of the City Hall with Red Ribbons and Drug Awareness information.
Red Ribbon Week started in 1988 to commemorate the life and work of DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena following his 1985 kidnapping, torture and death at the hands of a drug cartel. Since, this annual education campaign demonstrates an intolerance for drugs in our schools, workplaces and communities. Each year, more than 80 million young people and adults show their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle by wearing or displaying the red ribbon.
Red Ribbon Week is October 23-31, 2019. It is our hope community members will make healthy decisions, be a positive influence in our community and take the pledge to be drug-free.
