Wilmington Police have arrested a New Castle man on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop.

On August 30 at approximately 11:18 a.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force conducted a vehicle stop in the 300 block of South Jackson Street for a traffic violation. The operator, 23-year-old Tyrone Folks of New Castle, was found to be in possession of a loaded .22 caliber revolver. Police also recovered .22 caliber ammunition, 3.2 grams of crack cocaine, drug packaging material and drug paraphernalia. 

Folks was taken into custody without incident and was charged with the following offenses, in addition to several traffic violations:

• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
