On SEPTEMBER 12, 2019 the BC Mosquito Control will be spraying for mosquito populations in Paramus and River Edge.

On Thursday, SEPTEMBER 12th, the Bergen County Mosquito Control Commission will be spraying for the control of adult mosquito populations in Paramus and River Edge, specifically Van Saun Park, Veterans Memorial Park, River Edge Library, and River Dell Middle School. The mosquito control products will be applied by truck between the hours of 3:00am and 6:00am. Residents are advised to close their windows during the scheduled spray period and 2 hours subsequent to the completion of the application.  The rain date for the application is September 13, 2019.

The County determined the need for the insecticide spray due to the result of a positive sampling for the West Nile virus. The spray will encompass a quarter mile radius surrounding the site, which essentially would be from the Paramus, Oradell and New Milford borders to Howland Avenue. The County’s Entomologist advised the spray does not pose any real threat to pets, wildlife, or humans and that closing the windows is just a precaution.
