Deputies investigate fatal collision on 7th and Lacy Street

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at approximately 9:28 PM, Deputies from the Victorville Station, rescue personnel from the Victorville City Fire Department and paramedics from American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on 7th Street near Lacy Street in the city of Victorville. Deputies determined that a black 2014 Chevy Malibu was traveling south on 7th Street in the number two lane when a pedestrian crossed the road and was struck by the Chevy.
The 68-year-old male pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. 7th Street was closed in both directions from Mojave Drive to Victor Street and Balsam Avenue for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
