Motorcyclist with meth leads deputies on pursuit
Deputy Jared Cody of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Joshua Wayne Henline, 31, address listed as Philliips Road in Spruce Pine, with fleeing to elude arrest, possession of methamphetamine, aggressive driving and driving while license revoked.
Shortly before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Cody spotted a motorcycle with a lost or stolen plate on U.S. 70. When Cody tried to stop the motorcycle, the driver sped up, leading the deputy on a pursuit to U.S. 221 North to Pitts Station Road to Old Linville Road and back onto U.S. 221 North, where the chain broke on the motorcycle and it came to a stop.
Cody and other deputies took the driver, identified as Henline, into custody and, during a search, located .10 gram of methamphetamine in a bag on the motorcycle.
