Coastal Flood Advisory until 07:00PM Wednesday
...High Risk of Rip Currents and Minor Coastal Flooding through Wednesday... .The combination of increased swell periods and swell heights along with strong easterly winds will lead to a high risk for dangerous rip currents tonight through Wednesday along the gulf- facing beaches of the Middle Texas Coast. High astronomical tides will also favor water runup to the base of dunes through Wednesday evening along North Padre Island. The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 7 PM CDT Wednesday.
* COASTAL FLOODING...Occasional tidal surf reaching the base of the dunes on North Padre Island during high astronomical tides.
* Timing...Through 7 PM CDT Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Strong rip currents are expected along Gulf-facing beaches, especially near piers and jetties. Walking may be difficult during high tide and vehicles may be inundated by high water.
* AFFECTED AREAS: NUECES ISLANDS ... KLEBERG ISLANDS
Instructions:
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
