Advisory

SPD investigates second school threat in two days. Local 16 year old arrested.

On 9/3/19, a concerned parent reported to Sheboygan Police that they had seen a social media post inferring a threat to South High School.  Sheboygan Police investigated the matter and identified the 16 year old Sheboygan resident responsible for the posting.  The suspect claims in this case that the threat was not credible and there is not believed to be an actual threat to the school or community.  The student was arrested and referred to juvenile authorities.  The Sheboygan Area School District was involved in the investigation throughout the day and there was no interuption to the classes held there.

This is a separate investigation from the one reported on 9/2/19 and the two investigations are not believed to be related to each other.  Again the Sheboygan Police Department and the Sheboygan Area School District take such threats very seriously. We encourage parents to speak with their children about the seriousness and the ramifications of such threats and to monitor their children’s social media accounts.

The Sheboygan Police would like to thank the public for bringing these incidents to our attention and encourage the public to continue to report threatening or suspicious communications to us.
