Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of August 25-31, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of August 25-31, 2019:        
 
August 25, 2019

  • Vehicle Burglary:
Between 1 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. on August 25, persons unknown broke into a 2014 Hyundai in the 900 block of Huntington Drive. Two backpacks containing personal items, the vehicle’s registration and two credit cards were stolen. Further investigation revealed the two credit cards were used at a Shell gas station and a Vons grocery store shortly after the burglary.  Entry into the vehicle was made by manipulating the driver’s side locking mechanism. 
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 4:50 p.m., deputies were patrolling Encanto Parkway when they detained an adult male on a bicycle for a vehicle code violation. After further investigation, it was determined the male was on probation for narcotics with search conditions. Deputies conducted a probation search and located a small amount of methamphetamine on his person and arrested him for possession of a controlled substance. The male is a resident of Azusa.  
 
August 26, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 12:20 p.m., deputies responded to 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart) regarding a call of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the informant was detaining an adult male in the parking lot for shoplifting. While retrieving the stolen items from the suspect’s backpack, deputies recovered a hypodermic syringe. The suspect admitted to having a heroin addiction. After further investigation, the informant was non-desirous of prosecution for shoplifting, however, deputies arrested the suspect for possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The male is a resident of Oxford, North Carolina.

August 28, 2019
  • Stolen Vehicle:
Between 4 a.m. and 5:20 a.m., a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant was stolen from the 2100 block of Royal Oaks Drive. The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 5:40 p.m., deputies were patrolling the rear parking lot of 1420 Huntington Drive, when they contacted an adult female sitting by the rear door of the closed business. The female was well known as a habitual narcotics user who loiters behind closed businesses. After further investigation, the female was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and was arrested. The female is a resident of Duarte.

August 30, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies responded to 1323 Huntington Drive regarding a call of a suspicious person in a vehicle. Upon arrival, they contacted an adult male in the driver’s seat of a U-Haul truck, who was holding a glass pipe in his lap. After further investigation, the male was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The male was a resident of Burbank.       
 
August 31, 2019
  • Narcotics Arrest:
At approximately 3:40 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Bloomdale Street and Brycedale Avenue, regarding a disturbance/possible fight call.  Upon arrival, deputies detained an adult male matching the description in the call. The male stated there was no physical fight, he was just having a verbal argument with a friend. While confirming his story, deputies discovered the detainee was in possession of methamphetamine and placed him under arrest. The male is a resident of Duarte.
