A fatal traffic collision involving two vehicles occurred earlier today at Bear Valley Road and Balsam Avenue

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, September 1, 2019, at approximately 12:38 am, deputies from the Victorville Station, rescue personnel from the City Fire Department and paramedics from American Medical Response responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision on Bear Valley Road at the intersection with Balsam Avenue, in the city of Victorville. Deputies determined that a red 2011 Hyundai Tucson was traveling west on Bear Valley Road and a white 2016 Audi A5 was traveling south on Balsam Avenue. The Hyundai collided with the Audi in the intersection causing major damage to both vehicles.
The driver of the Hyundai suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. Deputies and an off-duty nurse performed CPR on the driver of the Audi, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. Bear Valley Road was closed in both directions from Cottonwood Avenue to 11th Avenue and Balsam Avenue was closed in both directions from Tokay Street to Sequoia Street for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
