Three Men Arrested Following Disturbances Aboard Fire Island Ferry

Suffolk County Police last night arrested three men for Disorderly Conduct after they caused disturbances aboard a Fire Island Ferry.

Two passengers, Michael Maccarrone and Brandon Abad, began fighting on the ferry “Firebird” after it departed Ocean Bay Park at approximately 9:45 p.m. The two men were restrained by security personnel on board the vessel.

Soon after the first incident, another passenger climbed atop a seat on the upper deck and attempted to climb over the safety rail.  Jacob McKeown was restrained by a security officer on board the vessel.

The ferry’s captain called 911 and the boat was met by Marine Bureau and Third Precinct officers upon its arrival at the Fire Island Ferry Terminal, located at 104 Maple Avenue, Bay Shore, where the three men were placed under arrest. There were no injuries reported.

Maccarone, 22, of Miller Place, Abad, 21, of Port Jefferson, and McKeown, 22, of Sound Beach were charged with Disorderly Conduct. The three men were issued Field Appearance Tickets and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 31, 2019.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
