On August 30, 2019, at 6:04 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Black 2009 Honda CBR after observing a violation on US 41 near Deadmans Curve in Gibson County. Upon pulling behind the vehicle the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed through three different counties. However the driver surrendered at the intersection of State Road 65 and State Road 64. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith identified the driver as 32 year old Christopher Alan Burton II of Princeton. During a roadside investigation Deputy Smith discovered that Mr. Burton had an active warrant for Possession of Marijuana. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Smith transported Mr. Burton to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement With a Vehicle, Operating a Vehicle Without Financial Responsibility, Reckless Driving, and Aggressive Driving. Mr. Burton has since posted a $1400 bond.
