Police Investigate Car/Pedestrian Accident
Danville resident injured after being struck in intersection

Danville Police are investigating a car/pedestrian accident that occurred Friday morning at the intersection of Camino Tassajara and Alta Vista Way/Wood Ranch Road.

Chief Allan Shields said that at approximately 9:11 a.m. police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was injured in the accident and was transported by San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District ambulance to John Muir Medical Center with major injuries.  No information is available on the condition of the pedestrian, and no identity will be released pending notification of the family.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.  Based on initial investigation, it appears the driver of the vehicle was making a left turn from Alta Vista Way onto eastbound Camino Tassajara when they struck the pedestrian, who was crossing in the northbound crosswalk of Wood Ranch Road and Camino Tassajara.  (NOTE: at the intersection the road on the north side is Wood Ranch Road, and on the south side it is Alta Vista Way).

Investigators have no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.  The incident remains under investigation.
