On Saturday, August 24, 2019, the West Covina Police Department was contacted by family members of John Brian Mananghaya Aguila, 28 from West Covina stating they have not heard from him since 4:30 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2019. The missing has not reported to work or returned home since. The family said this conduct is very uncharacteristic of him.
During the investigation, it was learned that on Friday, August 23, 2019, the missing’s white 2017 Honda Civic had been located and impounded in the city of San Dimas. Investigators located video surveillance that showed a male leaving from the car and walking away from it. It was determined that this subject was not the missing person. When investigators checked inside the vehicle’s trunk, they found gloves in addition to clothing that had blood on it. Evidence collected allowed West Covina PD Investigators to identify the male seen leaving the missing’s vehicle.
This morning, just after 8:30 AM, WCPD SWAT served a search warrant at a residence located in the 1400 block of Third Street, La Verne. Three people inside the location were detained pending further investigation. The missing person was not located. Investigators are still on scene processing the location for any additional leads. The investigation is ongoing.
