The Citizen’s Police Academy is an important component of the Kingsville Police Department’s Community Policing philosophy. Its purpose is to provide a forum where citizens can develop a basic understanding of the Kingsville Police Department’s role in making our city safer.
During the thirteen weeks of the Academy, personnel from the different divisions and bureaus of the department will cover a variety of subjects ranging from basic law enforcement to discussions and demonstrations of specialized units within the Kingsville Police Department. Through this experience, you will gain valuable knowledge of the Kingsville Police Department’s important role in the community.
As an Academy participant, you'll be greeted by Kingsville Police officials, receive a comprehensive behind the scenes tour of the Kingsville Police Department, including the dispatch communications center as well as shown many of the tools that are being utilized by police officers in the field. Academy participants will also gain firsthand knowledge of the court procedures by receiving information provided by the Kleberg County Court at Law Judge, Kleberg County District Attorney and Kleberg County Attorney.
At the conclusion of the Citizens' Police Academy, each participant will be invited to attend the Citizens' Police Academy Graduation Ceremony held at the Kingsville City Hall Commission Chambers.

Each session of the academy will be approximately three hours in length. Interested parties should come by the Kingsville Police Department at 1700 E. King to pick up an application.
Applicants will have a background check completed prior to the start of the academy which includes, but is not limited to the following:

- Must be at least 18 years of age;
- Must be a citizen of the United States; and
- Must be in good health;
- No criminal record – no Class A or B misdemeanors within the past two years and no felony convictions;
- Preferred that applicants have access to e-mail, as correspondence is provided to team members via e-mail;
