Flash Flood Watch until 10:00AM Thursday

...Heavy Rainfall Expected Tonight and Early Thursday... .A strengthening low level jet stream will interact with a slow moving frontal boundary to produce multiple rounds of thunderstorms tonight and early Thursday morning. The expected training nature of thunderstorms along with high moisture content in the atmosphere will result in very heavy rainfall rates and an increased potential for flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected from southeastern Kansas into central Missouri, with localized amounts up to 6 inches possible. The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar, Dade, Dallas, Hickory, Jasper, Laclede, Maries, Miller, Morgan, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, St. Clair, and Vernon.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Thursday morning

* Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected tonight and early Thursday morning from southeastern Kansas into central Missouri. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected with localized amounts up to 6 inches possible.

* Flooding of creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be possible.
