SUMMARY:
On Monday, August 19, 2019 a deputy working patrol in Mentone observed a stolen vehicle driving on Mentone Blvd. Before the deputy could stop the car, the driver pulled into the Mill Creek Restaurant parking lot and ran. Deputies established a perimeter and a sheriff's helicopter responded to assist in searching for the suspect.
During the search, Justin Hoffman ran from the area, jumped a fence and was detained by deputies. Investigation revealed he was not connected to the stolen vehicle but was wanted on a felony warrant out of Riverside County for burglary. He was later booked at Central Detention Center and is being held without bail.
During a search of the area, deputies located Justin Spiegel hiding inside an unlocked vehicle in the business parking lot. He was detained without incident and was found to be on felony probation for possession of stolen property. Investigation linked him to the stolen vehicle and he was booked for possessing the stolen car and for probation violation. He is also being held without bail.
