The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...West central Morris County in northern New Jersey...Northern Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...Southern Warren County in northwestern New Jersey... * Until 645 PM EDT. * At 557 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Bloomsbury, or near Easton, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. * Locations impacted include...Hackettstown, Washington, High Bridge, Clinton, Harmony, Oxford, Alpha, Glen Gardner, Hampton, Califon, Bloomsbury, Brass Castle, Pleasant Valley, Roxburg, Annandale, Beatyestown, Long Valley, Phillipsburg and Beattyestown. This includes Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 2 and 17. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
