INCIDENT: Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: Mt. Vernon Avenue / Barton Road, Grand Terrace

SUSPECT: Brandon Torres, 20-years-old, resident of Grand Terrace

VICTIM(S): Multiple victims; Residents of Grand Terrace and Riverside

SUMMARY:
On August 14, 2019 at approximately 11:20 A.M., Deputy Paul Casas conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a silver Toyota Camry, near the intersection of Mt. Vernon Avenue and Barton Road, in the city of Grand Terrace. The driver stopped the Camry in a parking lot of a nearby shopping center and fled on foot into a residential area. Deputies did not locate the driver, but the passenger, Brandon Torres, was immediately detained at the Camry without incident.

During the investigation, deputies learned the Camry was stolen from the city of Riverside on July 30, 2019. The Camry contained multiple items of stolen property belonging to several residents of the city of Grand Terrace. The property owners were contacted, and it was discovered the property was stolen over the last two weeks, during several different residential and vehicle burglaries in Grand Terrace. The driver has not been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
Torres was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center for PC 496 - Possession of Stolen Property. Bail was set at $50,000.
