On July 18, 2019 at 10:09 PM, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to 226 Hamrick Drive in Ellenboro in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies found Chris Dewberry with a gunshot to his upper thigh. Dewberry was transported to Cleveland Regional Hospital by Rutherford County EMS and released the next morning.
After further investigation, Detective Brandon Ellenburg of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office charged Donivan Terrell Davenport, 47, of 218 Ledbetter Road in Spindale NC on August 2, 2019 for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Possession of Firearm by Felon and Discharging Weapon into Occupied Property.
Davenport was arrested in High Point North Carolina by the United States Marshal’s Office on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 and was transported to the Guilford County Detention Center where received a one million dollar bond and was brought to the Rutherford County Detention Center on August 15, 2019.
