The Apple Valley Walmart store was temporarily evacuated after employees received a call threatening violence

SUMMARY:
On August 15, 2019 at 8:12 p.m., Apple Valley deputies responded to reports of criminal threats at the Walmart store on State Highway 18 in Apple Valley. Employees reported an unknown male suspect phoned the Apple Valley Walmart threatening violence toward the store and employees. Numerous deputies were on scene within minutes of the call and immediately contained the property. As a precaution, all customers and employees were evacuated to a safety zone at the direction of Walmart management. Apple Valley deputies and Sheriff’s Aviation assisted with a safety sweep of the store and nearby area. There was no evidence of foul play located at the store and no suspect was identified. After about one hour, employees were allowed to return to the store.
