Wilmington Police arrest Middletown man found with stolen firearm:
Wilmington Police have arrested a Middletown man and recovered a stolen firearm after a motor vehicle stop.
On August 14 at approximately 9:35 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 2100 block of Locust Street when they observed a vehicle commit a moving violation. Police stopped the vehicle and encountered 38-year-old Middletown resident Ivan Cornelious. Officers observed marijuana in the vehicle, and later found a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun underneath the driver’s seat.
Cornelious was taken into custody without incident, and the firearm was found to have been reported stolen in 2015.
Cornelious has been charged with the following offenses, in addition to a moving violation and failure to have insurance or a registration card:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Two Counts)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
