Excessive Heat Warning until 08:00PM

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM PDT this morning until 8 PM PDT this evening. The Heat Advisory is no longer in effect.

* TEMPERATURES...High temperatures of 103 to 108 degrees this afternoon.

* TIMING...From 11 AM PDT this morning until 8 PM PDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke are likely. People most vulnerable to heat related illnesses include those who spend a lot of time outdoors, those who do not have air conditioning, young children, the elderly, and those with chronic ailments.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WEST SIDE HILLS ... FOGGY BOTTOM ... TULARE COUNTY ... EASTERN KERN COUNTY ... FRESNO ... WESTERN SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY ... SAN JOAQUIN CONFLUENCE ... BAKERSFIELD ... WESTERN KERN COUNTY ... SOUTHERN KINGS COUNTY ... MERCED AND MADERA

Instructions:

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. These hot temperatures will create a DANGEROUS SITUATION, in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, remain in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 9 1 1.
