Duarte Crime Blotter for the week of July 28 through August 3, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of 7-28-19 through 8-03-19:        
 
July 28, 2019

  • An Assault with a Deadly Weapon was reported at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Buena Vista Street. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim was sitting in his car at the intersection, when he noticed a silver or grey Chrysler 300 with two adult male Hispanics had followed him from the Mobil gas station. The victim stated that through his rearview mirror, he saw the driver holding what appeared to be a handgun outside the window. Fearing for his safety, the victim made a U-turn and fled the area. The victim’s friends who were in another car stopped at the same intersection, said they heard what appeared to be a gunshot and also fled the area. Deputies were unable to recover any physical or video evidence that a shooting occurred.  The investigation is ongoing.               
 
July 29, 2019
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1500 Duarte Road (City of Hope). A set of air pods worth $215 were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the valet section.

August 1, 2019
  • An Assault with a Deadly Weapon was reported in the 2000 block of Buena Vista Street. An 18 year-old female was struck with shards of glass when another 18 year-old female through a hammer through the victim’s window. The dispute was over a boy.  The victim was treated at the scene by L.A. County Fire for injuries to her arm and hand from flying glass.          
 
August 2, 2019
  • At approximately 12:18 a.m., deputies responded to an emergency regarding a traffic collision at 2532 Huntington Drive. The deputies contacted witnesses who told them a large semi-truck with a trailer had crashed into a parked vehicle, then onto the sidewalk, struck a tree, and then collided with a building. The driver of the semi-truck was able to break the vehicle free and fled the location before deputies arrived on-scene. There were no injuries reported.  City of Duarte  responded and assisted with debris clean-up. Deputies were able recover evidence from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
