NJDEP now confirms snake was NON-VENOMOUS ADULT BLACK RAT SNAKE following new information received by department. 
After additional information was received by NJDEP, the department has now confirmed that the snake previously identified by NJDEP as a timber rattlesnake is in fact a non-venomous adult black rat snake that is not a danger to people.
