The Sebastopol Police Department received a report that around midnight, on Tuesday August 6, 2019, two small mountain lions were spotted in the area of Healdsburg Avenue and North Main Street in Sebastopol. As this does not happen frequently, it is not necessarily unusual for mountain lions to be seen within city limits as we are located next to open county area. With this sighting, the Sebastopol Police Department wants to remind people to be aware of what is around them, especially at night. If you see a wild animal, including mountain lions, give them space and slowly leave the area. Also, be aware that pets are possibly at risk in the areas that mountain lions have been seen. If you see any mountain lions, please notify your local law enforcement agency.
