Do YOU know what to do in the event of an emergency?
WHAT YOU DO MATTERS... please read, sign up and share.

(31) people were killed in the tragic shootings last weekend in Texas and Ohio. Did you also know that (51) additional people were injured during the same tragedies? That means (82) people needed immediate medical attention. This begs the question, “How can we better prepare our communities?”

The Marietta Police Department, the Marietta Fire Department and WellStar Kennestone Hospital’s Trauma Center are planning a training seminar to be held at the Marietta High School Wednesday, August 14, 2019, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The Marietta Police Department has taught over 16,000 people the concepts of the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) program over the last several years. The core principles of AVOID, DENY and DEFEND have been researched by Texas State University and proven to save lives of innocent people who find themselves trapped in an active shooter event. The CRASE message of empowerment and situational awareness is powerful and will continue to be taught multiple times a year.

Because WHAT YOU DO MATTERS, the Marietta Police Department is proud to announce that we have partnered with the Marietta Fire Department and Trauma Services at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and the STOP THE BLEED campaign. Developed by the Hartford Consensus, STOP THE BLEED is a program where civilians are taught life-saving skills to stop uncontrolled bleeding. This training empowers the community to assist the injured until Emergency Medical Services arrive on scene of any serious casualty incident or as a manpower multiplier if EMS is overwhelmed.

Please sign up today and join us on August 14th. We hope you never find yourself in an emergency, but if you do, we want you to be prepared.
